Historic world events: First punic war
The First Punic war was a series of 3 wars fought between Ancient Carthage and the Roman Republic. They were fought over supremacy in the western Mediterranean Sea, primarily around Sicily. The Ancient Carthage was the dominant Western Mediterranean power at the beginning of the First Punic War. However, the powerful Roman army prevailed after 20 years of fighting. As a result of the Roman win, Sicily went under Roman rule.
