Archimedes was the son of an astronomer named Phidias, who was a little wealthy. It is claimed that Archimedes' family was related to King Heiro's family. King Hiero was the king of Syracuse at that time. Heiro and Archimedes were friends, but everything else about Archimedes' family is unknown to us. For example, we did not know whether he was married or had any children.
