Contributions to mathematics
Archimedes contributed a lot to modern day mathematics. Even though he is long dead, his contributions are still with us. His contributions include:
1. Invented Integral Calculus
2. He discovered that the volume and surface area of a sphere are equal to two-thirds that of the cylinder
3. "The Quadrature of the Parabola", which was when he proved that the area inside a parabola and a straight line is 4/3 multiplied by the area of a triangle with equal base and height.
4. Found exact value of Pi, which is between 310/71 and 310/70
5. Invented Scientific Notation, to replace using the Greek Alphabet in the counting system.
6. In 'The Sand Reckoner', he discovered the number of grains of sand in universe, which is 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000, or 1 x 10^63(in scientific notation)
